WHERE IS THE AIR SHOW?

The Lake Cumberland Air Show takes place at the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport in Somerset, KY, located at
500 W O. Newell Dr, Somerset, KY 42503.

DO I NEED A TICKET?

Yes, general admission tickets can be bought HERE. Kids 6 & under are free!

WHERE DO I PARK?

Free air show parking is located at the American Standard Fiat Parking lot located at 706 KY-3057, Somerset, KY 42501.  A shuttle bus will take you to the airport/air show grounds. If this lot is full, additional overflow lots will be opened.  Please visit our Parking page for more details.

WHERE IS HANDICAP OR MOTORCYCLE PARKING?

Handicap and motorcycle parking is located near the main terminal building and is very close to the event. Please let a traffic volunteer or law enforcement officer know when arriving of your request and provide proper credentials.  Spaces are first come, first served.

WHAT IF IT RAINS? IS THERE A RAIN DATE?

The air show will go on rain or shine, however severe weather or low clouds may hinder flying activities.  Due to the complicated nature of hosting an air show, there is no rain date.

CAN I BRING BLANKETS AND CHAIRS?

Yes! BYO blankets and folding chairs are welcomed and encouraged.

WHAT TIME DO GATES OPEN?

Gates open at approximately 10:00AM.

WHERE CAN I FIND AN AIR SHOW SCHEDULE?

For security reasons, we are unable to provide individual performer start times. All acts are subject to change sometimes with little to no notice.  The air show will begin at approximately 12:30pm and last for about two hours.  Please follow our social media channels for further information on air show performance times.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT?

Attendees are welcome to bring collapsible or folding chairs, cameras, blankets, umbrellas (small not to block the view of others), baby strollers, diaper bags for small children, strollers, and small personal items. All items will be subject to search.

WHAT SHOULD I NOT BRING TO THE EVENT?

Illegal substances, coolers, glass containers, skateboards, scooters, or personal motorized vehicles, lasers, bicycles, carts or wagons, fireworks, toy guns, water guns, helium balloons, illegal substances, non-collapsible chairs, popup tents, pets (except for service animals), drones or remote control aircraft, outside food/drink, and aerosol containers are not permitted within the event grounds. Unauthorized solicitations, handbills, sampling or giveaways, or unauthorized vending is also not allowed and will be enforced by local law enforcement.

CAN I FLY MY DRONE NEAR THE AIRPORT?

No. A temporary flight restriction has been put into place for the air show.  Drones will not be allowed anywhere in or near the event or within 5 nautical miles of the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport (KSME) as per the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  Violators face confiscation and up to a $230,000 fine.  This will be strictly enforced.

ARE PETS ALLOWED?

No. Air shows are noisy places, and for the safety of all patrons, pets will not be allowed on the event grounds except for required, approved, and documented service animals.  We appreciate your cooperation to keep everyone safe, including our fury friends!

ARE THERE ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN?

Yes! There are various family friendly activities for children of all ages. There will be no shortage of things to see and do both in the air and on the ground.

IS THE EVENT WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE?

The majority of the tarmac is wheelchair accessible held on airport tarmac, however some kids displays and related areas may be more difficult to reach (i.e. grass).  If you require a wheelchair or scooter for mobility, you should have no issues in joining us to enjoy the show.

WILL THERE BE STATIC DISPLAYS?

Yes, a variety of civilian and vintage military aircraft will be on static display throughout the day.

Is there a livestream of the show?

No, there is no live streaming planned for the 2024 event.  Please be cautious when interacting with fraudulent social media posts, especially when links ask for personal details or credit card information.  The Lake Cumberland Air Show can only be seen by attending in-person!

Can I view the show outside of the airport?

Sadly not. The Lake Cumberland Air Show is an intimate event and takes place on-site at the Lake Cumberland Regional Airport. Due to requirements to maintain the integrity of the sterile safety areas as per the Federal Aviation Administration, it is not likely you will be able to view the show from anywhere except from on-site. 

Can I fly my personal plane to the event?

Yes, but please be aware of the NOTAM and published TFR for the closure of the airport during the formal flying display.  The airport will be closed to fly-in traffic approximately 1 hour prior to the start of the show and will reopen at the conclusion.  Transient/visitor aircraft parking is located on the west end of the parallels taxiway where you will then be escorted to the show grounds to enjoy the event.  Please note transient parking space is limited and comes via a first come, first served basis.
